St. Petersburg has a multitude of magnificent park landscapes. Yet the restoration of the Summer Garden during the last 3 years was of exceptional significance.
Located centrally along the Neva River, the Summer Garden is the first park built by Peter the Great. Its design involved Dutch gardeners, a French architect and Italian sculptors. Before its restoration, the park was more like a piece of forest and the park architecture was in a very poor condition or even buried.
Today the Summer Garden invites again to eventful strolls by virtue of its different garden rooms, architecture and buildings, the avenues, numerous fountains and statues. It finds frequent use by the population and tourists, especially also the visitors of the Russian museum bordering to it.
