The most important east-west axis of this vibrant district, the Aachenerstrasse, dates back to Roman times. In the vicinity of the Aachenerstrasse and its byroads, which are named after Belgian and Dutch cities, trendy galleries, small shops, cafés, and chic bars and pubs have sprung up. In addition there are a number of cultural institutions such as the museum for Asian art, the Millowitsch theatre and many smaller theatre companies.
