Nine paintings by Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens are on display in the Siegerlandmuseum, opened in the Upper Castle in 1905. Among other exhibits, the castle’s attic storey houses a Siegen kitchen and a bedchamber as examples of the 19th-century style of living. A further special feature of the Regional Museum for Art and Cultural History is the exhibition mine installed below the castle courtyard in 1938. It demonstrates work in the mines and is a reminder of more than 2000 years of mining and iron extraction in the Siegerland.
